I bought myself this book on a whim at Waterstones, as a gift to myself upon finishing A Levels (I don’t usually buy physical copies of books – especially from Waterstones!). It is rare that such spontaneous purchase are successful, and I am very glad that this is the book I chose as it turned out to be a perfect kickstart to my summer reading.

Thoughts Whilst Reading The Count of Monte Cristo #1

As you may already know, The Count of Monte Cristo is a much applauded classic that has graced the shelves since 1844 and was translated from French to English two years later. It is of a most formidable size, spanning a monstrous 1200 pages in the edition that I am currently reading. However, I am a fearless bookworm – and so I have decided to take on this colossal masterpiece and I intend to live to see the end (somehow). It may be obvious that I always have a lot to say when it comes to books (or anything) and so I decided it was impossible I would able to sum up my thoughts in way that would do the book justice (since I already love it) once I finish it in a single review: so it may be better if I instead publish my thoughts (as they change and develop) whilst reading this book – and so this will probably become a series of posts finished with a final review attempting to recapitulate the content of the previous posts. And this is the first.

Favourite Anne of Green Gables Quotes – Chp. 1-3 #1

Hey everyone!

As I’m rereading the Anne of Green Gables series, I’ve come across some quotes that I’ve LOVED and so I’ve given into the temptation to highlight all those quotes (and yes I know, some people would never do that – but I don’t believe in books being preserved as sacred relics – they’re sacred, yes – but I like my books to look loved) and I thought I’d share them with you all!

They’re not in chronological order because I feel that would be more like summing up the story and may spoiler it for some people who haven’t read the book. And if you haven’t read the book and wish to know nothing about it before you dive in, feel free not to read the quotes!
