Here are the highlights from all the books I read this summer! Check out all the books I read here.
most surprising read
The Huntress by Kate Quinn. This book shook me to the core of my soul. Unfortunately, if I had known the level of sexual content I had to skip and the bad language I would not have ended up reading it, but I still ended up really enjoying it. The premise is so interesting and terrifying and meaningful at the same time. I love so many aspects to it. The author was so good at giving a three dimensional view of everything, how this book is so much more than just a hunt for a murderess.
most bewildering read
The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I was never more confused when reading this, but that didn’t stop be from enjoying it immensely. I would highly recommend that you have your brain turned to 100% while reading this but still don’t expect to understand more than 70% of what is happening lol. But I guarantee you will enjoy yourself. It is an absolutely intriguing mystery if there ever was one.
biggest plot twist
The plot twist in The Wicked Deep shot me in the heart and then proceeded to twist all the life out of it until by the end of it I was a screaming mess. Still screaming.
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein is by far the best retelling I read this summer and one of the best retellings I’ve read ever. The way the author took the whole concept of Frankenstein and then merged into this was beautiful. I honestly 100% agree with what Emily May said about this book – that Frankenstein poses a question and this book seems to answer it.
The Prodigal Daughter is by far one of the best historical-fiction books I have read EVER. I don’t know how else to say it so just read my review here.
Although I enjoyed reading Eliza and Her Monsters the ending ruined the story for me (although I still rated it 3 stars). The ending message was something I found pretty messed up, and which I talk about in my review here.
What do you think of the books mentioned here? Have you read any of them?
