This is a review I read of “Love, Hate and Other Filters” on Goodreads, and I wanted to share this with anyone who may not have read it before. It is from Fuzaila’s review and I did not write any of it, all credit goes to her.Continue reading “The Truth about “Love, Hate and Other Filters” by Samira Ahmed”
YES today we are finishing the alphabet! I did it guys, I DID IT. I admit the last three letters took me ages, but I did it. Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme, and this month it was on titles from A-Z. I’m so proud of everyone who managed to finish the entire alphabet as well! 🎉👏 It was definitely a challenge. See my three A-T posts here, here and here.Continue reading “U-V-W-X-Y-Z Books! | Top 5 Tuesday”

Pride and Prejudice, although having rated it 4 stars on Goodreads (so despite not being a favourite or 5 star read from me) was one of the most entertaining books I have ever read, although there were a couple of things that held back the 5 stars for me, but perhaps if I read it now (a year or two later) it would be different. This draft has been on my blog for a little over a year now, since last year when I watched the Pride and Prejudice movie. I don’t often rate books 1 star, either because I DNF it long before that or by now I pretty much know what I dislike in books to stay away from it. This book I saw on OverDrive (as always) and I just read the blurb, checked Goodreads for the presence of sexual content (nonexistent) and then borrowed it and read it. It hardly ever goes that way because I usually read 389217148218 reviews beforehand.
I did actually read 92156361523 reviews after that, and I found that none of them mentioned the one thing that I had been thinking about the entire time: this is a very bad, fancier version of Jane Eyre.Continue reading “Carnegie’s Maid”
Sometimes you just can’t put a finger on why you aren’t enjoying a book. You go through a list of things that a book has and just can’t think of an actual reason why it isn’t working for you. Yes, the pacing is a bit slow but you’ve loved and enjoyed slower ones. Yes, the character is a bit annoying but you have loved and enjoyed more annoying characters. Yes, some things are a bit unbelievable, but you have loved and enjoyed more unbelievable things.
So, what is it? Is it that you are getting a reading slump? No, it doesn’t feel like one… is it your mood? But you seem to be in a perfectly normal mood… and it definitely cannot be the cover…Continue reading “First-Impressions: Descendant of the Crane”
