Hello guys, and Top 5 Tuesday is back again, this week’s post is on “Top 5 Fantasy”. We actually did this topic back in September, and I’ll link my post on that here. However, as stated by Shanah, there’s always more room to fantasy! I’m also not going to talk about any of the books in my September post, so don’t get all shocked when I don’t include Six of Crows 🙂
The Wicked King by Holly Black
I did not expect to love this book so much. I read The Cruel Prince and gave it 4 stars, I felt like the hype overhyped it but 4 stars is still a damn good read. I expected The Wicked King to be similar, but this just went over the top and away and I feel like 5 stars is underrating it. This is one hell of a smart book. That’s all I’m saying. It’s so deceitful, so enrapturing, so FANTASY and it just ticked all my boxes. Read my review here.
Heartless by Marissa Meyer
When it comes to Marissa Meyer a lot of people always talk about The Lunar Chronicles, but Heartless is also absolutely amazing. With The Lunar Chronicles, there were some meh books like Cinder was a 3 star read for me. But this book is just all-out five stars. It’s an Alice in Wonderland retelling, so obviously that’s already fabulous. I found it so funny and entertaining. Note: the ending isn’t a happy one, but the rest of the book was so amazing – I made excuses! Read my review here.
A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
An Ember in the Ashes was brilliant. But this book just blew brilliance out of proportion. There is constant action at every turn and every step of the way and I was absolutely hooked until the very end. It is one heck of a rollercoaster and definitely a book worth reading when in the mood for. I hope to read the third book soon!! Read my review here.
The Unbound by Victoria Schwab
I don’t talk about this book enough. I’m pretty sure I talk more about how I want to read the Darker Shade of Magic series, forgetting I’ve already read a series by Victoria Schwab that basically killed me. Everything about this book is so perfect. I finished it in one sitting, and each twist hurled my way ended me even more. Read my review here.
The Stolen Kingdom by Ross Rosenfield
This was probably the first fantasy book I ever read. I got it for free on my new Kindle, and then spent the rest of the evening avoiding guests at my parent’s dinner so I could continue reading this. It has every element of a fantasy book: dragons, heroes, villains, romance. In fact, it is probably one of the most cliche fantasies I’ve ever read. For a long time this was one of my favourite books. I’ve read it countless times – probably 5-6 times. I just loved the story and the characters so, so much. I haven’t given this book enough credit.
What are some of your Top 5 Fantasy reads? 🙂
