First-Impressions: Princess of the Midnight Ball

I have been meaning to read this book for a while ever since one of my friends highly recommended it to me, and so when I saw it on OverDrive I knew I had to borrow it and give it a go.

I am all for those wholesome and entertaining, sweet and simple stories that are completely clean but leave you with a warm feeling inside. I have a feeling that this is going to be one of those books.

It is a retelling of the 12 Dancing Princesses, which is another reason I’m already loving this, since the 12 Dancing Princesses was also one of my favourite Barbie movies as a child haha. Love that story to pieces.

The writing is good and flows well. Of course, because there are 12 dancing princesses that means there are 12 names for me to try and remember, but so far I’ve got: Rose, Lily, Poppy and Hyacinth… I’m getting there haha.

I predict my rating for this to be around 3-4 stars because I doubt this story is going to be one that will completely blow me away, but I know it will be something that I will enjoy and so depending on how much I enjoy it will be as to whether I rate it 3 or 4 stars 🙂

I honestly find it so hard these days to find books that are clean and good and wholesome, which I find very sad. I am someone who does not like reading sexual content, and so I always have to check my books and then always skip those bits. I wish there were more good books these days that are without that!

What do you think about books like these?

  1. OOOOOHHHH!!! So glad to hear you’re enjoying it! Yeah, I got interested in it because I loved Barbie and the 12 dancing princesses too. ❤ And I agree, it's hard to find books that are clean and wholesome, that aren't too heavy in the romance or swearing department, which is part of the reason why I love Jessica Day George's books. And the fact they are pretty brilliant fairytale retellings. Looking forward to reading your review!

If you like Princess of the Midnight Ball, I can definitely recommend reading the other two in the Trilogy. Princess of Glass is by far the best retelling of Cinderella I've read so far!

  3. I read this before ok many years ago and I think I gave it between 3 or 4 stars. I don’t quite remember. Still I do very clearly remember the story and the characters so that’s definitely the sign of a good book. I really hope you enjoy it!!
