Spontaneous, Exam-Celebratory Book Haul

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog. Today I’m going to be sharing what books I got in celebration of the ending of my exams. Now, I’m going to be completely real with you: by the title you may assume I went a bit crazy with what I got as bookworms tend to do (no shade!), but I am someone who does not like to spend money and prefers libraries and blessings like OverDrive. So just buying physical books (as they are expensive), being books other than ones for my education, is a treat for me because even when I did buy books in the past it would often be ebooks. But either way, I thought it would be fun to share the two books that I got!

In all honesty, I was going to leave the bookshop empty handed (it wasn’t particularly large) as I saw many books I had read and then the few books I did see were ones with quite mixed ratings so I didn’t want to buy them and then end up disliking them.

Obviously as soon as I got into the shop I went straight to the Young Adult section, completely missing the Classics one that was at the front, so then when I was exiting I saw it, and then could not resist the gorgeous covers.

I decided to choose The Count of Monte Cristo because I have been reading the ebook for a while, and I thought if I got the physical copy it would ensure that I read it because I spent money on it haha. Also the cover is so pretty!!!!!

The next book I got is quite different to the type I usually read. Now, I’m going to completely real with you: as much as people may talk about how reading stories are good because they increase your vocabulary, expand your imagination, and kids who read for pleasure get better grades and all, in my opinion, at the end of the day they’re just stories, and while they may be good at relaxing yourself and for me-time and all those important things, it’s also good to read more beneficial things.

So seeing as a I live in Britain I thought it might be useful to read a book about how it actually works, and all the nitty-gritty details on “economics, politics, health, education, military, law and order, old and new media and identity” – which are all the chapter names, by the way.

It actually looks really interesting and I have a feeling I’m going to highlight (update I was just told I can’t highlight but can underline haha) quite a few passages because that’s what I do when reading physical copies and coming across things I love haha. I also highlighted about fifty passages in Frankenstein (but it was on my Kindle) and I was also torn between getting the Frankenstein edition but guys, books are so expensive!

In all honesty, I think I might start this book before The Count of Monte Cristo (well technically I’ve already started it, but I mean reading from the physical copy) because I’m currently reading The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein, and I like to read one fiction book at the time otherwise I get seriously mixed up and then I’m one confusing mess.

Anyways I’m really excited to read both of these books, I know the majority of my readers on this blog may be here for the fictional books since that’s all I ever talk about, and I know some people find this stuff boring, but it can be so important to just educate ourselves about the world around us.
