Goodreads Choice Awards – TALK ABOUT TOUGH!

Has anyone voted in the Goodreads Choice Awards yet?

Of course I went straight to Young Adult fantasy, thinking oh this can’t be too hard… and then my eyes fell on all those amazing titles and my heart actually skipped a beat because HOW AM I MEANT TO PICK BETWEEN THESE? I’m living an actual dilemma here.

Here it is for those of you who haven’t seen it yet:

Books in italics are the ones I’m super struggling with. These are the titles I’m desperately struggling with choosing over:

  • The Belles
  • Lifel1k3
  • Kingdom of Ash
  • The Cruel Prince

Books I feel like I should read before I vote (what can I say, these books have all been on my TBR, I’ve been trying to get to them!):

  • A Reaper at the Gates
  • Children of Blood and Bone
  • The Hazel Wood
  • Sky in the Deep
  • Legendary
  • Skyward

I’m SERIOUSLY stuck here. How can I pick between all of these?! Yes I LOVED LOVED LOVED The Belles but Lifel1k3 blew me through the roof. And The Cruel Prince was awesome and just awesome but Kingdom of Ash hit all of my emotions in one huge blast.

And there are books on this list I’m dying to read and I feel like I’m cheating them if I don’t read them before I vote?? But that’s impossible.

Maybe I’ll just wait until the vote narrows down. The only thing I’ve voted for so far is the “best of the best” which you’d think would be the hardest but I went straight for The Help before I even read the rest because that book is my heart and soul.

What did you vote for? I’m so interested to know! Speak soon 🙂

  1. I can’t remember if you told me to read Sky In The Deep or it was another blogger but omwww it was incredible. (I’m pretty sure it was you though)
    You should definitely read it.

As for The Belles, I started it and I knew you really enjoyed it so I had high hopes but I DNFed it after about 10 chapters because I didn’t really enjoy it unfortunately.

Also, how did you find Tahereh Mafi’s books?
I didn’t really know about her but then I found out she’s married to Ransom Riggs and I died. So… now I’m curious to read her books.

  2. Ohh I haven’t read Sky in the Deep so probably not! But it’s been on my TBR for an age and a half and I’m slowly but surely making my way towards it xD … I’m so glad you enjoyed it, though!

Aww I’m really sorry to say that, I hope you love your next read!

Haven’t really tried any of her books yet! As with all Islamic-fiction, I’m skeptical xD

  3. IKR!!! This is me rn in one post! How am I supposed to choose?! What if one of the books I haven’t read yet becomes a new favorite and then I regret my vote?! And it doesn’t help that Archenemies and Queen of Air and Darkness come out too late in the year to count…why is life so hard.

  4. This is my annual struggle with the Goodreads Choice Awards – for every book nominated that I’ve read and had an opinion on, there’s another I’ve heard good things about but haven’t read yet! I try to limit myself to voting for books I’ve actually read, but sometimes my desire to support an author wins out.
