Current Drafts by Favourite Authors

Ok when I say new I mean… really new. I mean it hasn’t been released yet and ARCs probably haven’t come out yet? Most of the books here are super super new as in no cover released either, but some of them do have covers so… fun! I thought I’d share them with you since the other day I went hunting for the books some of my favourite authors (Leigh Bardugo, V.E. Schwab, etc) are currently working on. So put these on your TBR so you don’t miss them!!!

The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by V.E. Schwab

This is such an interesting premise. It’s going to be released in 2020 so.. *dies*. Why does Goodreads have books that are going to be released in sooo long? It’s just torture. Anyways the synopsis only says “It’s about a love story between a French girl and the devil over 300 years. She sells her soul for the ability to live forever, and the devil curses her to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

I’m totally only putting this on my TBR because it’s by V.E. Schwab and I’m interested to see how she goes about doing this. It’s definitely a very unique idea. I’m not sure what else I think about it just yet.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

OK LEIGH BARDUGO I PUT IT ON MY TBR BEFORE I READ THE SYNOPSIS. Hah. You shouldn’t be surprised. And this is a bit sooner it says June 2019 so I’m definitely getting it as soon as my exams are over and done with and then I will live on my bed until it’s finished. Duh. Like where do these authors get such BRILLIANT ideas?! I am at a loss.

Here’s what the synopsis says: “The new series centers on Alex Stern, a 20-year-old California high school dropout with a criminal past who is mysteriously offered a second chance as a Yale University freshman. Ninth House, the first book, follows Stern’s freshman year, where she is charged with monitoring Yale’s secret societies, who engage in sinister occult activities. You can probably hear my screaming from here.

Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff and Annie Kaufman

To be honest Illuminate didn’t really work with me, but LIFELIKE. One book is all it took for me to love this author. And so obviously I’m super duper pumped about this new book because !!! have you seen the synopsis?

Here, “The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the Academy would touch…” See the rest here. But basically Lifelik13 got me into sci-fi again so now I’m full-on ready to get into another of Jay Kristoff’s sci-fi books.

And this is due on April 2019 so I’ll probably have to wait till after my exams to read this sooo… RIP me?

Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu

This is all the synopsis says: “Based on the childhood of composer Mozart and his sister Nannerl. When a magical imp (in the form of a gorgeous teen boy) from the “imaginary” kingdom of Back offers to fulfill her secret wish to always be remembered, Nannerl unwittingly makes a terrible pact to solidify her place in history.” and this, this is ENOUGH. I NEED IT NOW.

Honestly such an original idea I can’t wait. And the release date only says 2019 for now, sooo I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

OK SO what book are you most excited for? Impossible question. Hah I know. I’m sorry. I have to say for me it has to be a tie between Leigh Bardugo’s book and Jay Kristoff’s – but the others aren’t far behind. Let me know if I missed any (I probably have!).

Speak soon! 🙂

  1. I’m down with the Aurora Rising series, but I did love Illuminae… But you should definitely read Nevernight by Kristoff because the final book in the trilogy is Darkdawn and isn’t out until September 2019 and I am so waiting for it!!!!
Also keen to get my hands on Maggie Stiefvater’s ‘Dreamer trilogy’ that had no release date or title. It follows Ronan’s story after The Raven Cycle.
And I want every fae book that might ever be written by Holly Black.
